‘We will hunt you down’
Anonymous Declares War on ISIS After Paris Attacks
In response to the deadly terrorist assault in Paris,
hacktivist collective Anonymous declared war on ISIS. In a video posted to
YouTube, the hacker group announced that in the wake of the Paris attacks, they
would be taking the cyber offensive against the terrorist group.
The Guy Fawkes wearing Anon in the video called the
terrorists “vermin,” warning that Anonymous will continue to “hunt them down”
and reveal Islamic State supporters and propagandists, as they have since the
Charlie Hedbo attack.
Speaking in French, a masked Anon representative stated:
“Anonymous from
all over the world will hunt you down. You should know that we will find you
and we will not let you go. We will launch the biggest operation ever against
you. Expect massive cyber attacks. War is declared. Get prepared. The French
people are stronger than you and will come out of this atrocity even stronger.”
The group didn’t elaborate on specific targets or operations
but made certain that the world is aware that Anonymous opposes the Islamic
State on all fronts.
The main weapon used by ISIS to spread their extremist
ideology has been social media, and regardless of your stance as to how the
terror group was created or who created it, Twitter and Facebook have been the
major tools for the growth of the Islamic State.
